Taiwan's armed forces conducted a large-scale anti-landing drill on a beach near the major Taipei Port just outside the capital on July 27 despite occasional rains and winds brought by passing Typhoon Doksuri.Hinting at China’s military posturing towards Taiwan, President Tsai Ing-wen, who oversaw parts of the exercise, called for increased drills and planning amid Taiwan’s ever more complicated future threats and challenges. The exercises simulated the repulsion of an enemy force with ground troops and tanks amid high military tensions with neighbouring China.
